AL-Hijr Ancient
History
The subsistence of the inhabitant settlement long time go was avaliable in AL-Hijr
because of being on the trade path , the avaliable water , the fertiled soil and
the natural protection represented in the big rocks spread in the site . So , it
is not strange that the historical inhabitant settlement in AL-Hijr was older
than it was defined by the scientists . The best evidence is mentioned in the
Holy Quran which assures that Thamud have lived there although nothing about
them was found in history . The people of lahian controlled AL-Hijr after
defeating the people of Didan in AL-Ula . Their rule continued till the
Nabateans
conqured them . The most famous rules of Nabatean were :
King Aritos , King AL-Hareth
the second , King AL-Hareth the therd , King Obadah the second , King Malek the
first , King Obadah the third , King Malek hte second and king Malek the third

and Modern Ages
After the Romans
demonated the north of the Peninsula and ending the Nabatean kingdom in
106 AD and the divertion of trade path to the red sea , AL-Hijr
list its stratigic importance as a trading centre , protecting the caravans and
colle cting taxes , its people abondoned it . When Islam spread all over the
world and the caravan path be came vital again especially be cause the pilgrims
pass it or their way from AL-Sham to Madinah and Makkah AL-Mukarramah , AL-Hijr
became ore of the pilgrims stations .
THE STORY OF THAMUD PROPHET SALEH
(peace be upor Him)
The Glorious Quran mentioned Saleh s story with his people in 17 positions
that they were rich and built their palaces in the valley and inhabited the
mountains . But they were ingratituded and they worshipped the idols instead of
Allah . So Allah sent his messanger Saleh to invite them to worship
Allah only. But a few of them believed Saleh and followed him . So Allah sent his
torment after his miracle .
