NAME
AL-Hijr as it is
mentioned in Yaqut AL-Hamawi s dictionary means behined
in the language it means what you prevented to reach . AL-Hijr
also means the mind and the core , AL-Haram , AL-Hijr is
the name for Thamuds houses in in Wadi AL-Qura between
Madinah and sham . It is said that AL-Hijr was Known as Madaen
Saleh oe Saleh s villag s or Addal .
LOCAITON
AL-Hijr is 20 Km in the
northern east of AL-Ula
at latitude 47-26 north and longitude 53-37 east . This place is known as AL-Hijr
many centuries ago . It takes its historical fame from its location on the
ancient trade path joining the southern part of the peninsula with Sham.
its known inlabitants are Thamud s people mentioned in the Holy Quran who
rejected the messenger and the invitation of Saleh (Allah s proplet ) and
slaughtered the camel sent by Allah as a propliy.
To reach Madaen Saleh ( AL-Hijr ) is via
AL-Ula which is only 18 km apart .
